Working version, pending formal legal review. It describes how midiverse actually operates today.

Terms of Service

Last updated: 4 September 2026

midiverse is three things: this site, midiverse.ai; midiverse transcribe (transcribe.midiverse.ai), which converts piano recordings you upload into MIDI for practice; and the midiverse store (store.midiverse.ai), which sells ready-made MIDI transcriptions as digital downloads.

These terms cover all three. By creating an account, using a service or buying from the store you agree to them. Where a section is marked for one product it binds only that product.

Who we are

All three sites are operated by midiverse. You can reach us any time at info@midiverse.ai or through the contact form on this site. One midiverse account signs you in to both transcribe and the store.

Using this site

midiverse.ai sells nothing and hosts no accounts. The demo player and the sheet music it draws are here to show what the products do, on a recording we transcribed ourselves; they are provided for demonstration and without warranty. The contact form reaches us but is not a support channel of record — if you have an account, use the contact route inside the product it concerns.

What you may upload, and what you get back

midiverse transcribe

You may only upload audio you have the right to use. By uploading a recording you affirm that you own it or are otherwise permitted to process it. Uploads and transcriptions are private to your account; there are no sharing or publishing features.

Transcriptions (MIDI files, note data) are generated for your personal practice use. Whether you may redistribute, perform, or sell a transcription of a copyrighted work is your responsibility, not ours. Automatic Transcription does not grant you any rights in the underlying music.

Plans and billing

midiverse transcribe

The free plan includes ten transcriptions per calendar month, at most three in any rolling 7-day period, each covering the first 50 seconds of a recording, subject to fair-use limits. Plus is a paid subscription with a monthly credit allowance (credits are used in proportion to the length of each recording), billed through our payment provider; an optional free trial, limited to one per customer, includes a reduced credit allowance. You can change or cancel Plus any time from your billing page, effective at the end of the paid period. Enterprise plans are agreed individually in writing; where those terms differ from this section, the written agreement applies. Prices are shown on the site and may change with notice. Discount codes are valid only on the terms stated when they are issued and may be withdrawn at any time before use.

What you are buying in the store

midiverse store

You are buying a licence to download and use a MIDI file (a data file that plays in MIDI apps such as Synthesia and SeeMusic), not the underlying musical composition or a recording.

The licence is personal: it covers your own practice, study, and enjoyment. You may not resell, redistribute, or share the files, and you may not use them commercially, for example in a monetised video, a public performance, a stream, or a release, without our approval first. If commercial use is what you have in mind, ask us and we will sort it out.

Some files are free to add to your library. The same personal licence applies to them. You can remove a free file from your library at any time and claim it again later.

Price, tax, and payment

midiverse store

Prices are in euros and shown inclusive of VAT. The VAT portion for your country is calculated at checkout, and your invoice is emailed to you automatically. Business buyers can enter a VAT id at checkout.

Payment is handled by Stripe. Your card details go directly to Stripe and never touch our servers.

Delivery

midiverse store

Delivery is immediate and digital: after payment the file is available straight away and stays in your library to re-download at any time. If a file is later removed from the store, it remains in your library. There is no physical shipment.

Each download is logged (time, IP address, browser) for fraud prevention and as evidence in payment disputes. The privacy notice explains this in detail.

Right of withdrawal and refunds

midiverse store

Because the files are digital content delivered immediately, you are asked at checkout to request immediate delivery and to acknowledge that you thereby waive your statutory 14-day right of withdrawal. Checkout only proceeds once you have given that consent. After that, all sales are final and non-refundable.

Any refund we do give is a goodwill gesture at our sole discretion, and is always processed through Stripe to your original payment method. If a payment is refunded or reversed, access to the corresponding file is revoked.

midiverse transcribe

A Plus subscription is not a digital purchase of this kind and is not covered by the waiver above. You change or cancel it from your billing page, effective at the end of the paid period.

Your account

Purchases are tied to your midiverse account, the same one you use for transcribe. Keep your sign-in details secure; you are responsible for activity under your account.

midiverse transcribe

Don't abuse the service: no attempts to circumvent quotas or access other users' data, no automated bulk scraping of the service, no uploading of malware or content you have no rights to. We may suspend accounts that violate these terms.

The free plan is one account per person. Creating or using additional accounts to claim the free allowance again, for example several accounts from the same connection or device, counts as misuse. We may disable transcription for, temporarily suspend or ban the accounts and networks involved (typically one month for a first offense, longer or permanent for repeats), without refund of any unused allowance. If you legitimately share a connection with another user, for example at home or on a campus network, contact us and we will make sure you are not affected.

What a transcription block does not touch: files you have already bought. Transcription stops on the account, and the piano sandbox, your library and the store keep working.

Takedown requests

If you believe something on midiverse infringes your rights, email info@midiverse.ai with the details, or use the contact form on any of the three sites. We will respond promptly.

This covers both cases: material a user uploaded to transcribe, and a file we sell in the store. For a store file we will look into it and remove content where appropriate. For copyright complaints about uploaded material, tell us what the work is and where it appears.

Disclaimer and liability

midiverse transcribe

The service is provided “as is”. Transcription is automatic and not guaranteed to be complete or accurate. To the extent permitted by law, our liability is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim.

midiverse store

We take care to deliver accurate, working files, and if something is wrong with your download we will help you. To the extent the law allows, our liability for any claim connected to a purchase is limited to the amount you paid for that purchase.

Both limits above are subject to this: they do not apply where the law does not permit it, for example in cases of intent or gross negligence, and they do not affect any rights you have as a consumer that cannot be excluded.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Netherlands. If you live in another EU country, you also keep any protections of your local consumer law that cannot be contracted away.

Changes and contact

We may update these terms; the version in force is the one shown here with the date above, and material changes will be announced on the site. Questions: info@midiverse.ai.

Credits

midiverse is made possible by the open-source community. The components below are used under their respective licenses, across all three sites.
